Default what are good brakes for a 92 civic

I have a 92 civic with to much power for my stock brakes to handle. I have stock brakes and wanted to know what is the best bang for the buck for brakes. I already did a search and went to fastbrakes.com but they want 700 bucks just for the front brakes and that's to much for me. I don't need the best brakes in the world but something pretty good. I also hear the the rear disk conversion doesen't really help much. Can someone please help me. My stock brakes are almost gone

OEM upgrade = EX/GSR front brakes
$$$ upgrade = Powerslot/Fastbrakes

Try some new pads up front, like some Hawk + or some Porterfields. Or some Project u ..there are all sorts of aftermarket brake pads...if that is the cheap way you are looking to go...

or just do a 5-lug swap like I did, works great

so would most of you guys reccommend just getting GSR brakes all the way around with some hawk pads. Does anyone have experience with making GSR rotors cross drilled instead of buying cross drilled rotors

Depends on what kind of driving you do. If you AutoX, upgrade the entire assembly. If this is just a daily driver, some new pads and stainless steel braided lines will do the trick

Dont mess with stock rotors...it will weaken them.

but you guys have to understand i have drum in the back which means no brakes. And in the front i have tiny crappy stock lx brakes. I have a b18c with a lot of stuff and the stock brakes can't handle it. It's a daily driver but i'm starting to get into autox and stuff like that

Stock GSR brakes work pretty well on a Hatch. I'm pretty happy with them.

If you're hardcore oem, a set of Legend rotors redrilled to 4x100 and some early model NSX calipers will have your brakes feeling like hitting a brick wall...

If they're good enough for an nsx, they should do alright on your civic... Legends and early NSX use the same rotors, but dealers seem to freak out when you start ordering NSX parts for your civic... The calipers are the same two-pot setup as well, but the nsx ones are a bit prettier (got nsx moulded into them)

The wreckers here sell the calipers for about $250 a pair, and a set of rotors wont run you up much...

screw brakes, just strip your car to make it lighter, then it will stop faster!

ok but for the front brakes do i just need the calipers and rotors or the whole control arm from a integra. And what do i do about the back. I need someone to give me a big list and tell me exactly what i need?

actually having rear drum is not that bad, since the front do most of the braking.

Brian's front brake 11" kit is under $300 which comes with rotors, calipers and mounting hardware. I don't know where you got that outrageously high quote. Fastbrakes is

P.S. From what I hear, changing the hub is a biatch which is what you have to do if you get integra brakes. Fastbrake kits are bolt-on, use brembo rotors and no need to swap hubs.

The front kit I believe is advertised around $350 but if you are a verified H-T member, you get a discount. The rear kit is around $200 and you get a discount on that too if you are a verified H-T member.
Mounting kit:

Rotor:

Calipers, sorry for the bad pic:

You might want one of these too:

And last but not least, e-brake cables:

Your stock brakes are fine, especially since you have an EX. I have a b18c1 and I have been running on my stock CX brakes for almost a year now on my daily driver. I know in the back of my mind that I am on stock brakes though so I don't really push the the car to the limit.

Yes you will be fine, granted you do not start driving like a mad-man. Even though you have good brakes, keep in mind those brakes were not meant to appropriately handle a b18c1. Have fun, you will love that powerplant.

just get some aftermarket brakes for the front ($800ish) and you'll gain about 80% over stock...the rear's don't matter so much since, under any load, they only take 25% of the braking power. if you're really worried about the rear, get some carbon-kevlar pads and a big brake u-pgrade in the front.

Ah hah!
Just what I needed to find!
I'm just going to upgrade my pads and the lines since mine will be for drag and daily driving
