"What to get for NA with $2000????"

Does he want to stay NA, or is he looking into the possibility of going turbo?

NA? sure if you want to go slow.. If you want to beat anything becides stock civics, you gotta go turbo. Even then, a bone stock SRT4 will smoke u. Save the money for something with potential for power and keep the civic for fuel miledge and daily driving. I have a 94 CX hatch cause it gets 40mpg. Im in the process of finding a 5spd sc300 to build a NA>T SC300. Under 20k for a 11sec daily driver thats RWD thats bascially a supra with different sheetmetal makes building any civic with any motor combo look stupid.

Its not possible to make a fast N/A honda thats daily driveable that isnt hacked up or highly modifed with more money invested then to buy a TT supra. Dont waste your $$.

read last months honda tuning and look at the 12 second crx, it is possible. As for this mans question, port and polish, intake manifold(maybe skunk2), and cams/gears.

yeah but why would you bother? in the end you still got a 15yo ugly car that runs 12s thats maxxed out. If you want to go that route, just buy a mid 80s turbo dodge. I know a plenty of turbo shadow owners running 12s with $1500 total investment, including cost of car.

b16 with i/h/e is fast enough for a daily driver spend it on something else or making yourself comfortable in the car
unless you want some serious times boost is the way cheaper and faster way to get there

edit- oh yeah this thread might be locked

I owned a 12sec 87 GN for 2 years and currently own a 94cx hatch and 88 daytona shelby Z pro street car. The honda is a fun car but its all power to weight, and unfortunatly these motors dont make any power. Its sad that my 1000cc vtwin honda superbike makes more HP and torque then 90% of the honda car engines ever sold, and thats detuned.

I'd hold off on dropping the B16, and use some of the 2k to pick up a 1.8 or 2.0 block with that B16 head he has. He could get the block, freshen it up, and change the pistons for under 2k, and it will make more of a difference than the bolt ons and cams.

the guys question was what should I do with a NA honda not should I get a supra or a GLH or grand national, as far NA hondas go yeah it's alot of work, but thats why we are on HONDA-TECH, because we are enthusiasts, if you are just going to sit there and say "just buy a supra" then don't post, it has no relavance and isn't helping anyone

I love hondas myself, i own a honda bike and car. But when it comes to making a honda civic fast? hahahahahahaahaha. If your dead set on spending money on a n/a B16.. get some sort of fuel managment or uberdata and have the car dyno tuned by a professional. You can add intake manifolds, headers, throttle bodys, cams, etc etc.. But unless you change out your pistons for high compression units, dont expect more then a 30hp gain with all those mods. And if you have aftermarket larger rims and larger brake rotors, after all those $2000 mods you probably just put yourself back to stock 1/4mi times cause the rims and brake rotors slowed you way down.

Buddy with CX hatch with a stock b18b ran 14.4 with 13in CX rims.. and 15.8 with late model Si rims, no other changes.

ooooh stock B18B ...SCARY.

I know all kinds of people who run 13s NA (myself, for one) in "Hondas that are impossible to make fast NA unless their hacked up." You must not know anything about Hondas? because, I don't know about your shiet, but our swaps and motors are clean as ****, and suitable for daily driving.

And what gives you the idea that everyone puts heavy *** aftermarket rims on their cars?

BTW, Erick Aguilar's 9-second ALL MOTOR (NA) CRX would tell most people with turbos and your friend's 12s Shadows to shove it up their ***. Everyone has a different standard of what "FAST" is.

EDIT: ******* n00b.

Daily driven hondas cant run 11s.. so whats your point? Ok break out your magazine cause uberstreet said so.. but how many of them do you see on the road? I grew up street racing in central florida, where alot of it started. Ive seen ALOT of fast 4cly cars (rwd and fwd sr20dets, mr2s, srt4s, mazdas, dsms) and my 6 years in street racing and drag racing i have yet to see a honda civic beat even a stock LS1 camaro. I love civics but im also realistic. Its an economy car. As far as it goes in the 4cly performace world, they are on the bottom of the food chain.

People on this forum have a habit of taking any and all opportunities to try and make people feel dumb. They somehow lose sight of the fact that anyone can go buy a Supra TT or something highend like that with the right funds. I, for one, really like the way the civic coupe looks. it's a good style. If I wanted a Supra, I'd buy a damn supra -- I have the money to. But why don't I? Because I found that its _fun_ to put hours and hours and life into a car.

And on top of that, the guy didn't ask if it was WORTH putting this money into the car, because his friend already knows what he wants to do, and that's totally his decision. He was just asking for some advice about a HONDA on http://www.HONDA-tech.com. So if you don't have anything constructive to post, just don't post at all.
