Default What exhaust piping size to use for B16A2 ?

Hi,

I'm going to put on a N1 style straight muffler....i was just wondering about the exhaust piping size....would 60 mm be too big?
what is the recommended size for a JDM B16A 2?

thanks...

If you plan on running a jdm header like spoon, mugen, feels etc then I would suggest running 63.5 mm to match the sized of the collector that comes on those headers.

i agree with bishop if you want to use a high performance header, then youll want to use a little bit bigger piping or youll be just wasting your time with those types of headers...but if not then 60 is ideal...

wow 63.5 is BIG!!!... won't i lose low end power with that kind of piping size?

i was running a 60mm RSR Exmag with a test pipe and Tanabe header on my b16a...that was defintly very well flowing....but if you add cams and go all out...2.5" collector on the header is must, also match the piping to that as well, otherwise you will bottle neck it...

also currently on my d15b i am running a 60mm RSR Exmag exhaust, test pipe doesn't seem to be loosing any torque or power actually i think if i go smaller it might start doing it...

I'm running 2.5 inch on my B16, no cat, straight through muffler.

don't know the metric/standard conversions, but typically all the cars i have tuned show the best N/A top end power with a 2.5" piping from the collector back. 3" for turbos. if you just want a little more oomph out of your 60mm catback exhaust, get a shop to make you a test pipe, or simply remove the cat on race day.

60mm is good, i used to have the Greddy BL-SUS (SP's) long time ago and it was really nice. However, when you change it first, you will feel a little sluggishness on the lower RPM's. Anyways, if you have NA, then stick with the 60's. For me, I personally think 55mm is better, like the old HKS ones, but that's a personal perference!

It is just basically a B16 with the usual bolt ons. It is in a 93 Hatch. 99 Si trans. Most of the interior is still in there as well. Its all about getting parts that work together, not just bolting on a bunch of big name brand parts and expecting it to haul ***. Just a side note, I don't use any real big name parts(can't afford them) so I just get what I can and either modify it to work the way that I want it to, or just custom fab the things that I need.
We are going to be deep in the 13's next year with the same basic setup, just doing some more tweeking and freshening up.
Hope this helps.
