Ok so me and my friend are fighting about this, I say its an EK and hes telling me its an EJ6.... What the hell is a 1996 Honda Civic 2Dr Coupe Dx?

Chassis code is in fact EJ6. The general name for all 96-00 civics is ek. He is technically correct, but 99.9% of people won't care if you call it an ek instead of an EJ6. In fact, most people probably don't know what the hell an EJ6 is.

So kinda like... To an 80 year old windows(EK) is windows(EK)....to us 2000(EJ6), xp(EJ7) and vista(EJ8) are three different things, and most correct terms...yes?

Ek is more JDM The japanese chassis code is EK.. and the civic we have here is made in the U.S. so it's no way to be EK :D but 99.99999999% people just call it Ek because the some 92-95 civic call EJ too, but mine is made in Japan and say EG.

yeah, pretty much. kinda like windows is the general term for it, vista or xp would be more specific, kinda like ek is the general term, and then there are the individual chassis codes.

No, if he said it was an EJ6, he was 100% right. You were 100% wrong.

There is no EK coupe. No such thing anywhere. All 96-00 coupes are EJ's (other than the EM1).

What were the first few digits of your VIN?

No '96-'00 Civic coupe made for the United States or Canada was assembled in Canada. They were all built in the US.

All '96-'00 Civic models built for the US and Canada were built at the following three plants:
East Liberty, Ohio Plant, USA
Alliston Plant, Ontario, Canada
Suzuka Plant, Mie Prefecture, Japan

The only cars built in Japan were sedans. All hatchbacks were built in Canada. All coupes were built in the US.
