Default What engine to get????

I have been having a major debate with myself on what engine to put in my hb. The choses are B18b1 Or B16a2. I like the B18b1 for the torque, but B16a2 has v-tech. I am so lost on what to do I had my mind all made up but now I dont know. I would like to get some opinions. Oh ya I can get the B18b1 for 1000 dollars cheaper then the other if that helps. Thanxxxxx

Should have searched. But it all depends on what you want to do with the car, are you looking to go forced induction, or trying to stay all motor. You need to figure out exactly what you want do with the car and then decide what you want for a motor.

you should probably stick with the b18b1 since you can't spell VTEC.

1. it's VTEC 2. Honda and torque should never be put together. 3. Decide what YOU wanna do.. FI, spray, N/A.. then go from there. DOHC VTEC would be the best N/A setup. B18B's are still DOHC but not VTEC and choke up top and have lower compression but are def. good for boost. Ugh.. People can't make decisions for themselves anymore.

Personally if it were me I'd start off with the B18b, then down the line swap a VTEC head on. But if it were me I'd also want to build up the bottom end. But IMO I'd go with the B18b as it gives you the torque now and later on you can improve it by swapping a VTEC head on to it.

Sorry about the spelling of Vtec I am at work and whipped that one out I work in a call center man these people on the phones can be jerks. Please dont judge me on spelling and if you arent going to answer the question seriously please dont post I really need some help here. I know the whole ls turbo setup and that was my orig plan but it is alot of money. My motor will stay pretty much stock for atleast the first year untill I can save up.

Well basically if your going to stay stock for a while, i'd say go with the B16, i think you'll have the most fun with that engine. Plus I mean it is possible to turbo a B16 if you want to go that route, or even build it up all motor.

I would but my bro has a b18c1 in his hatch I am trying to go somewhat of a different route. He is throwing on a 75 shot of nos and I want to smoke him with the ls turbo. But cost plays a big roll in my decision.

And what annoys the **** out of me is after one person corrects him and he fesses up to the mistake himself. Tools like you still feel the need to respond with the same **** that's already been said. If you don't have anything to contribute to the thread, then don't post.

Yeah, seriously, those v-tech phones are nice. But, personally, I'm kind of partial to the b16a2. Of course I have it, but I've beaten so many ls's that it's rediculous. And no, not just stock ls integra's, but I've beaten an ls integra that weighs probably 2100 pounds, and has some stuff done to it. I love my b16. Plus, Vtec is a beautiful thing.

I meant the JDM Type-R (B18C) not GSR. If not just get the C5

personally I think the b16a is a waste of money. I would go with the ls and then boost it later or throw a vtec head on there later. The b16 costs way too much for the amount of power you get. I would rather just spend that extra money on a sohc motor that would woop the b16, but thats just me...and don't say to boost the b16. You could spend less money and build a kick *** boosted b18 for less money than it would cost to buy and boost a b16.

Yeah, for all of you b16 haters out there, read this. Sure, a lot of **** is done to it, and it's stroked out to a 1.8, but, still started a b16a2. I guess you just need to look at it as to each your own, and I mean, they're all Honda engines anyway, so anyway you look at it, it's a kick *** engine.
