What else should I change?
Hi all,
I need your help to determine what I should replace on my civic.
My timing belt is really loud and needs to be changed, so I'm planning on changing other stuff along the way. I cant decide what I should buy from ebay
Ebay Item A) $120 (not genuine Honda parts)
One New Water Pump (Made In Japan)
One Water Pump Gasket
One Timing Belt
One GMB Timing Belt Tensioner
One Power Steering Belt
One Alternator Belt
One Air Conditioning Belt
One Front Crankshaft Seal
Two Camshaft Seals
One Valve Cover Gasket
Four Spark Plug Tube Seals
Seven Valve Cover Bolt Grommets
One Camshaft End Plug
Ebay Item B) $195 (genuine Honda parts)
One TIMING BELT
Two CAM SEALS
One WATER PUMP
One FRONT MAIN / CRANK SEAL
One VALVE COVER GASKET
Four SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS
One ALTERNATOR BELT
One A/C BELT
One P/S BELT
I want to buy item B, but it doesn't come with:
- Water Pump Gasket
- Timing Belt Tensioner
- Valve Cover Bolt Grommets
- Camshaft End Plug
So do I "need" all of this stuff that isn't on Item B?
BTW: Its a civic with 120k miles, and I don't know if this stuff has ever been changed.
Thanks for your help.

save your $ and get the OEM parts. those 'other parts' that dont come with item B doesnt cost more than like $40

Thanks XPLICIT, I'm going to buy the OEM parts but they don't come with the following items:
- Water Pump Gasket
- Timing Belt Tensioner
- Valve Cover Bolt Grommets
- Camshaft End Plug
So should I buy these items as well?

Re: What else should I change?
that noise you hear is not your timing belt. Its your Timing Belt Tensioner. dont forget to replace that the bearings go bad in them.

Re: What else should I change?
a water pump bought over the counter should come with a water pump gasket. it might not say "one gasket included".
are your valve cover grommets leaking? you could reuse them if they arent. i dotn see a problem with it since they are on the top of the motor.
your camshaft seal isnt part of the timing belt removal procedure.
when you have all your belts off (alt, PS, A/C, timing tensioner, and any pulley) make sure you spin each pulley by hand on all the above mentioned. see which one is making the noise.
