What ecu chip to run?

What ecu chip to run?
So i have a 99 civic now finding out its an hx. The guy i bought it from did a bunch of swaps so i thought it was like a dx or something. But supposedly i have a d16 y5 tranny and a y8 block and i think head. I believe it has a vtec solenoid. So when i went to look at my ecu chip it was for an hx. So should i be running a p2p? and how would i be able to replace it. I tried researching but i couldnt find the exact thing.

you looked at your chip? you mean just the ECU..? there is nothing physically on the chip itself that will tell you what it is from (unless you're reading the data "in" the chip and know what it means...)
just to confirm, this is a manual trans? if so the ECU doesn't know or care what gearing you have. you could theoretically link the motor/flywheel/clutch directly to the wheel with no transmission and it would run.
figure out exaclty what combination of parts you have. most importantly the head/valvetrain (pertains to how VTEC works) and the intake manifold (most ECU/sensor related variations are found here).
post a link to some pics. that could be helpful in determining what you have.

Re: What ecu chip to run?
Could be. But since the OP refers to it as an ECU chip, it would not be too much of an assumption to say he doesn't know too much about his car. So unless there is something wrong with it I'd leave it alone until you know what it is you're attempting to fix/restore.

yeah i honestly dont know much. I never messed with hondas till now. But i was just wondering because i just want it running right. I mean it has an hx ecu while running with a y8 block with vtec. I mean, im just asking for some help. i figured a forum like this would help.
