no.. just doing some early research for when I decide to do this.. not sure if i sould do this before I upgrade the cam, springs and retainers or after.. can you control vafc with a computer program hooked to the ecu? I mean can it work like a vafc controller?

I'd change it before, if something goes wrong you only have one thing to question. Plus you can always fall back to your stock ECU if everything gets messed up.
a VAFC works the same with a chipped ECU as it does your current ECU.
All though if you went to Crome or Uberdata, you'd be a lot better off than with a VAFC.
basically a Hondata setup with a lot less cost, but it's totally DIY.
when you're ready, send me an IM. I may have what you need.

sweet, sounds good... ill save up and see about getting me a p28... they seem to be more common and less expensive.. not sure why you actually need a knock sensor anyway or what its actually for. with the pinouts I should be able to make a odb2 to odb1 convertor.. looks easy enough.. what do you think?

Re: (iceman7)
I made one a while back, only difficult part is getting the female OBD2 plug. The OBD1 male plugs are fairly easy to snag at junk yards.
then again if you need an OBD2 female plug let me know. I have a few ECUs sitting here that I don't care about.
I'm not trying to sell stuff, really. I just have a lot of crap sitting around.
A knock sensor protects the engine from predetination due to a bad batch of fuel or inpropper tuning. Not really needed, but IMO a good safety device.

I'm curious why you suggest this. once chipped the only advantage the P72 has is the IAB control and the y8 doesn't need that.
