What is the easiest way to get 300whp out of a 2nd gen JDM B16a?
Hey I want to get around 300 wheel horse power out of my 2nd gen B16a. It is a daily driver, and drag on the weekends. What do you guys reccomend, I don't want to do it with nitrous. I also don't have tons of $$$$ to spend. If anyone has around this much power, please list your mods and a rough estimate on the total cost. Thanks

impossible to do in N/A trim unless you are a GOD.. so turbo power =P just drop on a bolt on kit.. like greddy/drag I'm sure you can get close to 240-260whp without any worries..300whp is pushing it I believe with stock internals

OK I was planning on going turbo. What internals should I change to get there. What PSI would get me in the 240-260 range with stock internals. I don't want to blow the motor.

go with a Drag 3 kit. you probably would want to change you pistons (for sure), rods, rings and get some stronger rod bolts, like ARP ones. u might also want to re-sleeve it to a 2.0l while ur at it.

hahah downey.. he only wants 300whp .. but yeah if I was going to run that type of powr out of a b16 I'd want to build it up to.. but is there any reason why u want 300whp and not like say 280whp?

sleeve the block so you are less likely to blow a hole in it. upgrade the entire fuel system, and get the **** tuned. i have no idea about psi though, it depends on how well you reinforce your engine. you may want to consider new pistons and rods too.

I want to be able to run low 12s or less in quarter mile. Don't really care on the actual hp.

Any idea on cost of all of that?
3000 for the kit
800 for sleeving.
400-700 for internals
300 for tuning
not to mention if you decide to go with injectors and a intank pump rather than the FMU and inline (i wouldnt trust it above 7.5psi) then you gotta add a few more hundred and a VAFC for tuning and gauges so it dosent explode on you, oh bost controller, turbo timer, etc etc etc.
expect about 5500-8000$ to get it running perfect.

PSI isn't set in stone its all relitive to what sixe turbo and so on and so on i would suggest that you do a search in the FI forum there is a LS hatch that is turbo'd the owner is very very knowledgeable read up on all of his posts

the title of this thred should have been "how do i get 300whp out of a turbo?"
how else are you gonna get there if you dont want to use nitrous.
