Default What does this problem sound like to you (idle)?

Scenario:
1992 Civic CX, 1995 LS swap with roughly ~150k miles
At times I'll have a very choppy/rough idle (almost as if I am camming). The first time I noticed it (about 4 days ago) I thought a harley was behind me because it was so rough.
Now tonight while I was coming home from work, at stop lights my rpms would drop very fast down to 0 rpms and then rise to just BARELY above 0. Struggling and it almost cut out on me a few times. I had to give a bit throttle (to about 1200 rpm) to keep it running.
I discussed with a buddy of mine to get his input and he recommended and take off my IACV and clean it out real well.
Does this sound like my problem?
Also, what other things could it be if it turns out not to be the problem?

My D-series used to have idle problems so I pulled off my FITV, took it apart and patiently cleaned it up with oven cleaner, a rag and some Q-tips. Then I screwed it all the way back in. This corrected my cold start idle drastically. My car used to idle over 2000RPM at a cold start but now it never jumps past 1500RPM and decreases from there as it gets warm. That may not seem to be your problem but I recommend you do this first because it corrects many other bad idle symptoms and worked wonders for me.

Later I also completely cleaned out my IACV with Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner and noticed better a bit of a smoother idle as well. Sometimes I think back on if I cleaned the IACV first, would my results have been as dramatic as they were when cleaning the FITV?

Here are some links that should help you out, just unbolt them out and clean them! You'd be suprised at how easy it actually is.. Goodluck.
