they are just a code that honda uses to classify each civic, they are the chassis codes.

EG = 92-95 chassis code for JDM Del Sols, Civic hatch, and Ferio
EF = 88-91 chassis code for JDM CRX, Civic hatches, and Ferio

ex. EG6 is a Civic SiRII, EG9 is a Civic SiR Ferio

coupes are not made in japan, so their designations are EJ...although some of the later models are also designated as EJ in the states.

Actually they did make 92-95 coupes in Japan. But they didn't make 96-00

Very true , i live in UK and those coupes are very popular, people seem to prefer them to hatchback for some reason, i dont think they come with VTEC motors though. Personally i think the EG was the best series.

7th gen coupes (in Canada) are EM2, sedans are ES1, and I don't know what the new Si/SiR will be until it comes out.

EF3 = civic Si ZC powered
EF7 = Civic Si ZC powered
EF8 = CRX SiR b16a
EF9 = Civic SiR b16a
EF6 = 1.5x CRX d15b
EF1/2 = Civic 23L/25x

EG2 = Del sol SiR b16a
EG1 = Del sol VXi 15b vtec
EG4 = Civic VTi/ETi d15b vtec
EG8 = Civic Ferio Vi/VTi d15b vtec

JDM coupes EJ (same as 4wd civic ferio (sedan)), were made in ohio...from the front cuts i have seen...all had a little lable saying made in USA...and so, on...

only came with d16a (sohc vtec, not the same as named here d16z6)
