What do you think? Cam and head damage
A friend of mine bought a b16 from some dude that claims the head was rebuilt.
we installed the b16... started it and she ran rough. took the valve cover off and this is the aftermath. my question is what could have caused this?
mostly just clarifying that this was caused by poor rebuilding.
Thanks HT

I wonder if the cam caps where from a different head. It only looks like the caps are bad.

im thinking something got mixed up when dude put the head together.
head and cams are nothing new to me, but this has got me stumped, the guy says he put the head together correctly. im sure i installed it correctly, so how the hell?

haven't seen that before so ill take a stab at it and say if there was plenty of oil, the head was reassembled correctly and the timing belt was fine... then to me it looks like an oil passage was being blocked. Are they stock b16 cams?

so what vtec head will CTR cams fit in then?
the only thing i can think of is a small piece of metal was stuck in there and just started grinding away and balled up like a snow ball.

both cams did the same thing same spot. which would nake ya think that the timing belt was too tight, but im sure it was not, and the damage on the caps... if the belt was too tight, only the head would show most of the damage. the cap is chewed just as bad as the head.
