Default what do you think about 100$ ebay exhaust?

just finished swapping in my itr swap with itr headers (2.5 inch opening) and my whole exhaust sustem was 2.25 inches so i figured i would get a 2.5 inh exhaust sustem to match the headers
so I ordered an ebay exhaust because i was in a hurry to get my car running and wasnt trying to go open header
im thinking of this as a temporary fix and will be getting another exhaust after i do some more research

its coming in in the next couple of days
this is the one i ordered and it seemed like the best out of all the ebay exhaust
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...933&cmd=VIDESC

what should i expect?
are they any good?

My guess is with a 2.5in exhaust on a stock 99 Si you'll lose power. Mainly torque.

as a temp fix....its a cheap peice of metal with shoddy welds. Will it last you a few months? sure... however if you think about it, you have to add the cost of this exhaust to the new exhaust you research and buy, so unless you get the next exhaust at a steal, you just threw money out the window.

Personally I wouldve tried to snag something off craigslist and ran that just to run, and then bought an exhaust. I see exhausts here (in the rust belt) for 25 bucks from when people do swaps.

In a pinch I understand, I mean its so easy to just grab something cheap off ebay and it is what it is. Cheap and decent quality arent usually in the same sentence though, so be prepare for it to not be the greatest.

Ummmmmm... you just put a 4k motor into a car and your complaining about buying a couple hundred dollar exhaust?

My new opinion is you just wasted 100....shouldve just bought an exhaust.

There's no such thing really. Every dyno I've seen has proven that even on d16's and b16's the 3" exhaust will make more power all across the RPM band. 2-5whp on most cars.

The "needs backpressure" thing is a myth. Well, until we're talking about 6" diameter exhausts.

2.5" is plenty for most cars, since as you go larger you really start paying for the small amount of benefit with a LOT of decibels.

My jdm spec 00 model ITR B18C came with the 4-1 2.5" outlet exhaust header and matching cat. Pretty sure the oem size the piping was the same. Wy is that too big if Honda designed it that way?

I disagree. If the engine isn't flowing more exhaust gases it isn't going to make a difference. Even with just a freeflowing muffler you lose midrange but gain only a few hp up top. The engine isn't using anymore air or fuel then it would be stock therefore it is not expelling anymore exhaust gasses.

Just because the header matches the cat doesnt mean the exhaust after the cat is 2.5in. it's like 2.25in.

Actually its. 2.37in

you can disagree all you want, there's TONS of 3" dynos proven with facts that youre wrong. not just what you think. what actually happens.

2.5 is fine.
this is exhaust will be ok but only temporary. honestly i woulda just bought a piping kit with a muffler, cat, and resonator welded it together and call it a day. but your past that.

ha ha, so let me get this straight, if i go from 2.37 to 2.5" exhaust, i will lose power?.....i don't think so

The next step would be to dyno each exhaust on your car and report back as to what worked best for you, then sell the one you don't want.

From what I understand everything past your header is just restriction.

alright so Im pretty much thinking im going to be riding on this exhaust for a couple months (no more than 6) and then either customize an exhaust to taylor my needs or maybe just change the tip

so my question now is would I be fine using the ebay piping and just upgrading to a better exhaust tip?

If it's all stainless, and fits fine, what's the big deal? 3" piping is 3" piping for the most part. Many people are just concerned about quality/fitment.

Ebay **** is like rolling dice, every once in a while you get two sixes.

Every single time I see you post, it's misinformation. You should really stop. You're never correct.

Wow this is absolutely hilarious to me. Anyone who would put a 2.5in or 3in exhaust on a stock motor is just fooling themselves.

That's like putting a huge manifold and TB on a stock motor. Why? Would you do this?

That's like putting a huge turbo on a stock motor. Why? Would you do this?

It's the same principal.

Don't believe the hype.

I've been in the Honda game long enough to know better.

You are making yourself look like a fool

The OP has an ITR engine, they pretty much come with 2.5" piping stock. What you say makes no sense. I have been driving Honda's for over 20 years, and am on my 58th car. I've modded 75% of those cars and have easily realized power even on stock cars by increasing the stock pipe size by a 1/4 of an inch.

Are you guys running the 2.5" or 3" out of a 2" secondary on the header or is it a good idea to also run a big tube header like that as well?
