what do u guys think of my ls/vtec setup?
im currently building a ls/vtec just wanted some opinons
B18a block
p30 pistons
shot peened ls rods
balanced crank
itr waterpump
itr oil pump
b16a head
ctr cams
skunk 2 springs and retainers

i think you got a good set up so far, you can mill the head a lil, and that should be good, i seen a guy run 12.7's with that set up in a crx... its a fun motor man...

first off good set-up second there is nothing wrong w/ ctr cams i think they are a great bang for the buck

Really? Have you had any first hand experience with them? I have two friends with them one in LSVTEC and the other in a 1st Gen B16...they are completely worthless...my friend with the B16 couldn't tell the difference between the stock B16 cams. They are okay, but certainly not worth the $600 when u can get skunk2 stg 1's or stg 2's for only $100 more

Damn, did he have his car tuned? I was running CTR's for a long time, and I loved them, great midrange, and decent top end. My roommate was running an LS/VTEC with ITR pistons, when he switched to the CTR cams, his car ripped, they made a very noticeable difference.

Which cams did he have before? Because my friend with the LS/VTEC had a 1st gen auto B16 head and noticed a good bit of difference, but that was because they were the **** auto cams.
And both cars were untuned.

Hmmm, true, anything is better than the auto B16 cams
. He had regular GSR cams in his set up originally. He never got a chance to tune it before changing to a 2.0 bottom end, but there's was much better pull with the CTR's.

when I had my 2000 si I just put in 98 itr cams and I gained 1.5 mph in 1/4 mile and knocked of 1 tenth. so they are good enough for what you get.

have i had any first hand experience **** look at my sig. and too if your friends paid 600 4 ctr cams then yeah somethings wrong most people can find a set for 300 bucks. hell if i was going to pay 600 bucks for some cams i would have diffenently got some sk2. but like i said 300 bucks 4 cams the are almost and i do mean almost as good as sk2 stage 1 is not a bad upgrade

I think your opinion blows, go with the ctr cams they are great cam for the street.
People have made 200whp with these cams....They have a broad powerband and are nice and cheap.......Just my opinion

yeah one of my freinds is running ctr cams in his ls/vtec and it makes good power all around and 600 bucks for them damn im getting a set for 300 so. thanks for all the opinons. what is everyones opinon on running a girdle should i do it im leaning towards running one right now
