I inherited a 94 Del Sol Si.
My granparents have an emotional attatchment to the car and are giving me appx $20,000 to put in it and make it special.

Im not sure I even know which route to take at that point. I know Im going to do a lot to the brakes and suspension, but the engine? Swap? Boost? Both?
Itll be an occasional street car and I'll want acceleration/low-mid range torque over top speed/high end power.

Opinions please..

Your grandparents are either mentally challenged or trying to make up for a lack of being around when you were a kid or some...

For the motherf'ing love of God, take the money and open an IRA, ROTH IRA or some other type of retirement account with Vanguard and put it on a 90/10 Index/Bonds split for the next 20-30 years. You will finish with $600k+ and you can take that Del Sol and burn it.

Take $5k, build a bitchin' B series, invest/save the rest.

Put the 20k into a short-term investment and drive the del sol until you have more knowledge about cars and what your goals are for a 20 year old vehicle, then withdraw some the money and build it.

Take your time and try to make smart decisions, not everyone has grandparents that have the means to hand their grandson a car and 20k. Spend wisely Grasshopper!

even if this is true, i doubt they want to see you rape it like most people do to these cars. Fix it if the thing breaks, otherwise just drive it and live your life.

Put the minimal amount in to keep it running, keep it stock, and maybe slap good body work/paint job on it for $1000 or so. Don't live for your Honda like a lot of idiots do who spend 75% of their money on their car and the rest to eek by in life.
