Hey guys

U probs get this all the time but iv noticed letters like ek6, ek2 ep eg etc...what do they mean...it dint really bug me before but now im curious lol.. I have a 4dr Civic 1997 so what wud that car be.

I know a little bit , EF is 88-91 body style , EG is 92-95 , EK is 96-00 ( I think ) and EP is the newer ones . As for the number , I beleive that designates trim and model . Someone correct me if I'm wrong .

its all your chassis code based on your Vin. The number i do believe tells the trim level, ie. cx,dx,si

wow that was quick...i forgot to mention i think its a 1.4i or 1.4si that i have. oh and its a uk car, i dnt kno if that makes a diff. n dnt worry lazie i wasnt offended lol...n thanks to omega as well lol...anyway it too late in the night to be angry...must sleep lol...got to get up early to get my other car into service...my nice little red with pink, grey and rust patches lol.

yeah, and way more people on h-t should know this. Eg and Ef are jdm models...so unless all these guys are driving around rhd civics, those aren't the correct chassis codes.

Well I think it stems from alot of media . Mostly magazines and kids wanting to be cool . I thought mine was an EG6 cuz thats what I always heard of when refered to my car . So I guess you could say I was trying to be JDM , and I didn't even know it . Although I'm still getting the Vision corner lights cuz I like how they look . But I would also like to add that alot of people call the '92-'95 hatches EG6's because thats what it seams to become known as . I also used to call my '89 CRX HF a EF9 cuz thats what I always heard them called in JDM speak . I think I will start a petition to rid this land of improper JDM speak and knowledge or just get rid if the term in general . That or someone who knows what they are talking about should make a site and/or write a book . I know I would buy it ! All I can say is you learn something new everyday ! ( so I have an EH3 ? 92 SI ? )
