What do I do With My old motor?
I'm Planning on swapping a b16 into my 97' dx hatch. What can I do with my old motor with 130k miles on it? will a junkyard give me anything for it? or should I try to sell it on ebay?

they make great garage foot stools. if it's vtec, it's worth about $200-$300 sold privately. if its non vtec, its worth its weight in dog ****.

lol...Thats about right. You could also try to find a metal yard that needs aluminum, they might give you something for the bare head and block but not a whole lot...at least u can get rid of it that way.

keep it. If you friends ever need something small from it like a sensor or theromostat or something stupid it'll come in handy.
Or you can just open it up and play with it and ****

True that. Keep it for later on down the road. You may want to build your B16 and want to swap it back in to keep your car moving

keep it, spare engines rock. I'm always dropping screws and other misc. junk like that and with a spare engine/tranny laying around I have plenty of extras so I don't have to stop what I'm doing to look for a bolt for an hour and half.

Re: (Dimitri_EG8)
We have kept about 2 or 3 of our d motors in the garage just in case something happens where we need a motor ASAP it is always nice to have a back up plan. We also tend to buy shells all the time so it is nice to have a motor to put in them so you can move them around untill you get your B or whatever you want to swap in there.

good idea, run the old engine while building your b16
Also the go-cart idea is insane, an old D15 making approx 90ponies aint gonna pull a car very fast, but would make one damn fast go-cart.

definitely keep it . like everyone said you never know when you'll need a back up.
get yourself a helm's and practice assembling/disassembling everything from pistons/cams/tranny gears...all this practice will come in handy when its time to swap out...say...your 3rd gear or whatever out your b16.
you can also get yourself a DIY port n polish kit and practice on that spare head. the possibilities are endless. you can really save money by practicing all sorts of **** you would never dare try on that b16.
practice rethreading bolts, claying your block, bore your own ****, etc. basically give this motor hell till you know what you're doing when you wanna DIY something on your b16.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'll keep it to practice with. I think it would come in handy for that. Now where would I get a helms manual? I've looked all over!!
