what do drag racers aim for when building motors?
for anybody here who takes they're car to the strip once in a while, or more...what exactly do you look for in building a motor? my goal is to put a factory 94 coupe into the mid 11s. its got a d16z6 rite now, but i think that will either be replaced with a h22 or a b16 boosted to 20psi or less, i dont know what the team budget is yet. anyways i was wondering which motor+turbo combo will put us into the 11s. (preferably w/out nitrous)
are we looking for torque?
are we looking for ax hp?
do we want a wide or peaky powerband?
do we want an oversized turbo?
do we want a supercharger?

you got a lot of research to do boy.. It's possible, but depending on your budget and dedication,.... it's hard to say. There's plenty of different routes to hit 11's, but seriously, none are as easy as one would think unless you got deep pockets. just my opinion.

first you need to figure out WHY you want a car to hit 11s. If you even have the resources to put together or rather pay to have put together a civic capable of that are you dedicated enough to the upkeep and frequent tuning of this vehicle? Are you doing this only to be able to beat all the (insert domestic or other vehicle here) cars in your area? Or are you genuinely going to race this vehicle at the track? As stated.. you have some research to do.
