Hey guys, I've got a 94 Civic Ex Sedan. Right now the stock engine needs a valve job and some new spark plug wires. I'm thinking about swapping in a different engine instead of fixing the stock one, any opinions on which swap would be the best CHEAP platform to build on?

The stock engine would be the cheapest platform to build on. Being that the head needs work, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and throw in some valvetrain upgrades and some porting. A d series turbo kit can be put together quite cheaply and Hondata isn't terribly expensive.

Well for 5g you could turbo a b16.

You can do a B16 for much less than $5000, but 5g references a fifth generation civic, not any specified amount of cash.
