Re: what are the different trim levels for civics?
What you mention are the chassis codes - EF, EG, EK, EP3, etc.
Trim levels are DX, LX, EX, Si, etc.
Trim levels differ between hatches and coupes/sedans too btw.
Essentially with every Honda vehicle the highest trim level was Si (in the states, SiR overseas, Prelude and Del Sol decided they needed to be different, VTEC trim was highest). Generally from highest to lowest (US Spec):
Si, EX, LX, HX, DX - coupes and sedans (Si only came in coupe style 99-00, HX only came in coupe 96-00)
Si, VX, DX, CX - hatches
VTEC, Si, S - Del Sol
Si, standard, HF - CRX
I believe those are the correct trims from 88-00. Essentially Honda always had a super "economy" car that was solely built for the person that wanted fuel economy but a cheaper price. First was the CRX HF (High Fuel economy). Then came the Hatch VX with it's VTEC-E (VTEC-economy). Then came the Coupe HX using the VTEC-E also. The cool thing about these cars is they got very good gas mileage but didn't have to compromise a ton on power (besides the CRX HF, 58 HP) and was still a fun car to drive. I believe these economy models didn't get power options either though. Only problem is that I don't think they made a ton of those trim levels because you see other trims much much more often.
Correct me if I'm wrong because I probably am.

This thread goes over all the US '96-'00 Civic trim levels.

This thread goes over all the chassis codes. There are some wrong ones in there, but the 6th gen Civic ones should all be right.
