Yup, try cleaning the IACV. Use search to find poisons post on how to clean, really easy.

Or, you might be low on coolant, gives the same symptions of a bad idle as you described.

Is the IACV bolted on the back of the intake manifold on a d16? just making sure I got the right parts in mind

maybe there is air trapped in the coolant system, i know this can cause an erratic idle.

Yup, this could cause it too.

Bleed your coolant system.

Any time.

When I had my 90 prelude si, oh it was a good car... Anyway, it leaked coolant until it got low. Once low the idle bounced up and down until the engine was at operational temp. In really cold weather, even after it's warm the t/b could stay cold causing the idle serge.

Check the coolant for air bubbles, clean iacv, spray down and check for leaks.

you might want to check your intake manifold gasket for leaks/cracks, my friend had a 240sx and that was the cause of his eratic idle

edit: i'm not sure if that would throw a check engine light or not, but just a suggestion. hopefully someone who knows will post and then i cna learn something new
