Icon3 What Cold Air Intake is best??

I'm looking to purchase a cold air intake for my 95 ex, and was just wondering what you guys think? also I've heard that if you live in a "wet" area, (I live in WA.) it is not recommended cuz of possible water moisture damage??? Is there a filter that is safe to run in wet conditions as a northwest winter???

Thanx!!

just get one of of ebay. I run an ebay Short Ram and so do a few of my friends. As well as other people I know running Ebay CAI's. The person I bought from sells Mr. Gasket ones for $35, i think its $40 total with shipping. It works great.

i personally like the AEM CAI but you can get a cheap CAI off of ebay but make sure you put the intake bypass valve so you wont get hydro lock....

The best intake for your car (if you want to go aftermarket) is to get a K&N kit or AEM kit. Either of those will work great and worth the price. If you want to save some money, buy a cheap kit off of ebay (any kit should be fine) and buy a K&N filter that is the same size of the tube that comes with the ebay kit. DO NOT keep using the filter that comes with the ebay kit because chances are its a POS one and is letting dirt into your engine.

No, the construction of the pipes will most likely be different. A K&N and AEM kit have different construction compared to an ebay kit (quality and material), but when compared to an ebay kit when looking at performance... you won't feel any difference on a butt dyno. Assuming we're talking about a civic here.

Fujita makes a nice quality cold air intake. Great bang for the buck if you ask me!

Part # CA-1902 which you can get for around $100-$120 shipped on eBay!

How are the AEM Dry flow filters? On par with K&N or should I pick one of those up instead? Reason I'm asking is there is a guy selling an ebay pipe with the AEM filter for $30.00 on c/l.

I don't know how people can get away with saying an AEM intake is "worth the price". It's just an aluminium pipe with AEM written on it.

eBay pipe + K&N filter = WIN!

People who say it's worth it, get away with it because they'e spent time dynoing different air intakes. Unless the Ebay intake is a direct copy of the AEM, Injen, Fujita air intakes, it will underperform compared to the originals. AEM and others like it costs alot because they actually put research and development into the end product, unlike ebay knock off's.

ebay pipe + K&N filter = your wallet wins but your power curve and the industry loses as a whole.

They are all just freaking pipes. I've seen people use plumbing pipe before. As long as air can flow with as little disruption as possible, it's not going to make a difference.

I am using a AEM CAI right now for my D16Y7 99 hatch. It's starting to rain soon, so best move is a SRI or go back to stock.

I'm using what looks like a cheap eBay CAI, but I cut it down to a SRI since the K&N filter I had was too long and hit the headlight.

^+1 that's exactly what happened to me. started sucking the actual filter element into the engine. lots of black smoke and a few times the cotton got caught in the throttle body, made me rev to 4000 with my foot off the gas
