Default what clutches avail - not cheap pep boys, but not all out perf. ???

Hi guys,

I made a post not too long ago about my clutch acting up - making rattles while in neutral.

its been getting worse so i'm planning on changing it next weekend.

this clutch that is bad is the Exedy OE standard i got on ebay for about 100 bucks. I wanted to hold out till summer 06 to see if i just wanna do an engine swap - but it is getting so bad that i just gotta change it.

My question is, since I MIGHT get a swap this summer, what do you guys think I should get as a clutch for now on my stock motor?

A) another cheapo auto zone type clutch
B) a decent clutch (hyper clutch ($250); or something along those lines?)

I don't really know what's out there for a clutch replacement other than the two extremes of bad and high performance...

any insight would be appreciated! thanks

might as well do it right the first time or do it again. ebay ones are cheap so they dont last long. just buy yourself a good clutch and when you decide to swap try selling it

thanks for the suggestions

getting a nice clutch for ~230-250 and enjoying it for 5-6 months might be worth it..then if i decide to swap, then i'll either sell or maybe try to sell the whole stock engine

i had this cheap exedy one for 2 years, but the car sat a lot when i was at college, so i prolly only put <10k miles on it before it started acting up...kinda crappy.

i'mma gonna look for a nice stage 1 or something. i'll let you guys know what i get.

thanks again

Hey guys,

I think this is the same clutch I got the first time that ended up being bad..not positive tho.

What do you guys think about this "stage 1" exedy clutch?..looks like the only difference between this one and the cheaper OEM replacement exedy clutch might be in the friction material?..

and my last question is, is the stage 1 above the same as this single plate organic from prostreet?

thanks for your help.
