Default what to check for when buying a used head..

Im going to buy a GSR head for my ls block tonight..what should i check to make sure evrything is good, as far as the valves,cams n such?? thanks

well with out taking it to a machine shop you wont tell much. it could have a crack you cant see . you can take a straight edge and feller gauges to the surface and check clearances for warpage

yea, that sucks because id be able to bring it to a shop after i buy it, but if something was wrong it would be to late.

if you do buy it id still take it to machine shop and have it cleaned, surfaced and maybe valve job
