what causes ecu to smoke?
hi my situation is im using a p72 ecu on my d16z6 sohc vtec and its not smoking from the ecu. and when i try to put on a p06 ecu i start the car the p06 starts smoking. wtf can it be? plz help ty.
oh and my car is a 1993 honda civic hatchback. with a sohc d16z6 vtec motor. turbo. and my car has extra map sensor located on firewall thats the plug im using. not using the plug that is on the vtec wiring harness. if that helps.
edit Q31 is the ones thats burnt.

man.. that sucks... open up the ecu see if anything is burned on the board... belive me you will know if its screwed or not.. the smell is god awful.

yeah the smell sucks. umm i opened it up and one chip looks kinda dark. but not totally off the ecu. solder still intacked. still usable?

when factory installed smoke is released, the component needs replacing and the entire board should be checked for proper operation... at this point, no. It is not usable.
