What cats are you guys using to pass smog in California
I replaced my stock cat last year with a Monza to pass smog. It worked but the cat has crapped out on me this year when trying to pass smog.
I need a new brand. What are you guys using to consistently pass smog with?

I barely passed using a new high flow cat by dynomax. If you use a high flow cat I would reccomend using that garanteed to pass stuff.

The price for a replacement cat from Honda...almost $600.
That's all good and everything and I'm sure they are handy when passing smog, but who has that kind of money for a cat??
Sounds like my best bet is Magnaflow, from some responses I have gotten and other posts I have read.

I used a Random Technology direct fit catalytic converter which I installed in 1998 and passed ever time till I stopped driving the car in 2004.

1:keep the cat you have there
2:find 5 other honda owners in the same obd-compliance as you
3:ban together and buy the cat (600 / 6 = 100 each)
4: keep the car you have already on until its smog time, then install the oem cat
5: pass smog
6: remove and hand to another friend that needs to pass smog
7: repeat as needed, and since the cat gets used for only 6 days per year, it will stay mint for a long long time

That's a good idea, but I am a bit of a loner with all of this. Never really was in the 'scene' that much, especially now that I moved to Cali...its just sort of a hobby for me....so I seriously do not know one other person out here that works on honda's that I can hang out with...
i know, sad life...

Same here. I got a Magnaflow because the OEM one needed to be replaced. I got mine off eBay for around $40 and just got the stock flanges welded on. Passed smog just fine, even at a Test-Only center.

This is what I do for emission test up here in B.C., Canada.
I run a test pipe 364 days a year, and the one day that I need to go through and do my emission test, I put my oem cat back on...then once I pass and get home, off with the cat, and back on with the test pipe.

What car/engine do you have?
I have a Magnaflow hi flow cat, never smogged it but before you buy one I've heard mix reviews on the Magnaflow cat. It's sort of a hit and miss cat, some go bad almost instantly and some last a long time. I've got lucky and I've had mine for over a year. If I was you I'll get a Magnaflow hi flow cat, if you don't pass put on two. Get it on ebay.

i had a magna hi-flow put in using D16Y7 engine, got nearly zero on NO and CO% readings, extremely LOW HC. so, i'd say its a good cat.
this is california too, and i ran it inside of a '92 DX (stock D15 and not BARed) and it passed just fine.
