What can I do to save gas?
I'm trying to make my 00 civic EX as gas efficient as possible, what would you recommend to accomplish this? I already changed the sparkplugs with some Denso Iridium's and i'm currently getting 25-27 MPG. I'm not looking for performance just a gas saving daily driver.

shift as soon as you think the next gear can handle it. lower rpm's=better mpg. also accelerate slow (if its stock then that should be easy LOL) cause most gas consumption is taken from acceleration as it takes a lot of energy to get 2400 lbs moving but little to maintain it.

You guys are killing me here, I'm not asking for instructions on how to drive to save gas, I was asking for items that i could do to the engine to make it more efficient.

About the only thing you can do thats not extensive work
Oh, and weight reduction. Lighter drive shaft, No power steering (My coupe is a DD and is fine without it), Lighter wheels, and other stuff you dont need or could make lighter.

a basic tune up... plugs (which u got) wires, cap, rotor, u can change ur fuel filter, clean ur injectors out... u can get an aem short ram for probably under 100 bucks, and u can do some exhaust work... i have a gsr swap in my heavy *** del slow and i get 33 mpg haha street tuned 
make sure ur timing is also on the stock setting

I thought headers and exhaust created less backpressure allowing the engine to let out exhaust gases faster, meaning more gas will be used?

over-inflate your tires, change your air filter, re-gap your spark plugs, new wires, put some fuel treatment in your tank, seafoam, check your timing, search

skinnier tires and pumped to 35-40 psi will help. On the engine, i/h/e would theoretically add more power so you use less throttle to apply the same power to accelerate your car the same so i saves gas. Also, synthetic oil can help. A higher temp thermostat would make the engine run hotter and more at optimal temperature so it may be more fuel effecient.
My 94 civic ex coupe gets around 30 mixed city/freeway, if i'm strictly freeway it gets at least 35. i have header/exhaust, ngk iridiums, a manual transmission with amsoil synthetic MTF, mobil 1 10w30 syn oil (5w20 would yield better mpg as well), 205/50/15 yokohama es100 (not the beset in rolling resistance but better than some).

I have a CX that has some heavy 15x7 with kumho Excta 712's, copper plugs, cheap wires, full exhaust, d16z6 intake mani and intake alsong with a few other things that don't matter....I get 41mpg regularly and I installed a vacuum guage the other day and by seeing how much stress is on the engine, I am driving more fuel efficently....in estimating aroud 47 from this tank

you should be getting better mileage than that. I don't care that you just put in those denso's take them out and put in a set of ngk v-powers, imo ngk and honda are made for each other, and denso is just plain crap. You can also replace the fuel filter along with a basic tune up like distributor cap, rotor button, wires, and also make sure your air filter is in good shape. Is your car an auto or manual? if it's a manual you could swap in the hx/cx tranny. I get 38's around town but 40+ on the highway.

u can tarde cars with me. i get about 30-34 mpg. in a 00 civic hatch. ahaha also with a crack header. thats alot of miles

Skinnier tires will help.
It's 99.9% in your driving though. Don't go above 55mph, there's some ridiculous equation that for each mph over 60 u lose like 2 cents at the pump or some **** like that (I don't know the whole deal). Light on the accelerator (like 1/4 or 1/5 of the way down) - shift at 2.5k or so. Everything after that should be peachy.
I drive like a ******* ******* and I still pull 36mpg on the thruway (75-100 mph traffic).

well i mean a hotter spark will burn hotter and get a lil more power thus save a lil gas, wires will help move the hoter spark, no back presure will help a lil and a intake will def help because the engine will no be sucking as hard\staring for air. but the best way to save gas is to go slow, it will show improve ment i have a 91 hatch d16a6 and i was geting 45highway at 90mph aproximently and i just had rebiult the motor to stock full 2in exast and cold air.. gas consumption depends mostly on how u drive

Riceracer, sparks don't BURN, they spark... Aight? It doesn't matter if the spark is hot or not, all you need is the spark to BLOW **** UP inside the combustion chamber.
You will not notice a gain from changing your spark plugs unless one's faulty.
