The D15B6 is an 8-valve 62hp engine from an '88-91 CRX HF. I don't recommend doing anything with it.

just looked and the pistons only have 2 valve reliefs, the rods use smaller bearings than normal. It sounds like a weak motor with no real potential except maybe random parts. Finda B7 or Z6/A6 block

if you decide to use it, you'll probably get some killer gas mileage

I can't help you there but I'm 90% sure it's illegal to put a OBD0 engine in a OBD1 car.

As a matter of fact, you can only put a newer engine in your car, legally (in your case, 95 and up)

i live in kansas! not to worried about that. only reason im iterested in this engine is cause it was free and it works, also my civic is just sitting there collecting leaves and dust, and thats not right!

if you're simply wanting to save a civic from sitting there, definitely throw that engine in there! otherwise you could put it in the back of a truck for weight in the winter. but I'm sure you could put most d series im/em's on it.

The engine is near useless.

If you honestly want to put it in (as is), you can treat it as a B8 since it's basically the same thing. Assuming your harness is still set for OBD1 sensors, you'll need to change the thermostat housing to except the current plug on your car for the fan switch OR you can cut and splice an OBD0 style plug in place. The IACV[EACV] uses the same plug as does the IAT and TPS sensors. Plugs on the side of the head (there should be two, coolant temp and I forget what the other one is) plug in the same as well. You'll need to run an OBD1 style throttle body to use the existing MAP and purge cut solenoid setup OR you can take one off an older 88-91 Civic and bolt that up to the firewall (the sensors work and plug in the same but on 88-91 Civics they are bolted onto the firewall and on 92-00 Civics they are incorporated into the intake manifold). Bolt up an OBD1 non-VTEC distributor and run your choice of OBD1 ECUs and you should be good to go (B8 specific ECU would be ideal, matching camshaft too but I don't know if there's any difference in cam profile vs the B6). You'll probably run into a coolant/vacuum hose difference but it's nothing you won't be able to figure out.

As an example I personally used a P28 for a week or two when my original ECU went bad on my B8. Even though the P28 had a CEL because it was looking for VTEC it still got 27mpg even in limp mode. With the correct ECU you'll see better MPG.

If you want to do something other than "as is" you can swap a set of 16v pistons and do a mini-me VTEC conversion on it. Outside of the pistons being 8valve specific I can't think of anything else that would prevent you from treating it like any other D-series engine.
