Because honda blocks have an open deck, so your cylinders are kinda "open" in the space that the coolant flows through.
Block guards keep them straight (in line with the rod journals) so they don't crack at higher RPM under heavy HP. It's like life insurance on your engine that doesn't always work.
Your engine doesn't have a block guard stock...and unless you're really cranking out some #'s I wouldn't recommend one. They're expensive and they don't always work.
