Default What are the best ways to get more power out of a D15B7 motor

i have a d15 motor with very low mileage, i have a cat-back exhaust and am about to get a cold-air intake, what would be some of the best and safest ways to get more power out of it cause this motor is SLOW

your friends motor blew because he's a dumbass for running untuned...i don't even know you and i'm gonna say that the motor was untuned...and if it was tuned, it was done poorly...I know ALOT of people that have daily boosted b7's...I'll even give you a b7 block and head if you do decide to boost it and blow it up on a good tune. I'm personally running 210whp and 184tq on a STOCK block d16z6 since last september.

Also, i don't see how your choices for a swap are limited...Get rid of that shitty auto and swap in a manual...it's not that hard....and an intake mani and MSD ignition on a d15b7 is pointless....ANY ALL MOTOR D IS POINTLESS IMO....<--my opinion ...don't flame me please.

I'm in the same boat as you. LX AT plus its a 4-door. But that hasn't stopped me from doin burn outs or runnin with people on the freeway. Go turbo. I was going to do this project. But I decided 2 pursue my Rap career. AnywayZ the cost and trouble of swapping the trans out isn't worth it unless you plan on doing some HEAVY Modifcation to your motor. That being said I love my AT even if it is slo off the line.

yup

or be ultra cheap, get 175/50/13s on some 13" wheels. It will turn a 4.25 final drive (ex tranny which you should have already acquired because it makes that much of a difference) into a 4.88 final drive!

swap it or drive it stock and enjoy the mpg. IMO, bolt ons are a waste of money on that motor.

worst motor ever to try and mod. save your $$$ and get a d16 and turbo or go for a B series. The d15b7 is a very good paper weight.

as much as a turbo costs it would be more worth it to just swap out the engine

It can hang with B16's for 1st and 2nd gear And it's gods gift to gas savers.

Over all, this motor sucks. I really miss my B-series. By the way, this is the d15b

Go turbo with a good tune...don't push more than 6-9psi on stock internals unless you want to blow it. That'll be a good way to get that little D15 moving a bit quicker.

Actually you're looking at it the wrong way...You need to look at it in wheel horse power...The d15 probly shouldn't be pushed past 200-210whp on stock internals IMO. The size of your turbo is going to determine the WHP it will distribute at a given ammount of psi.
