what is the best black housing headlights for EJ1/EG???
i want to get a set of HIDs but i wanted to change my headlights to the blackhousing. my boy has a set of HIDs with JDM headlights and they dont provide enough light on the ground. i was looking at these three:

http://robearracing.com/pd_jdm...w.cfm
does anybody have any experience with any of these?

I have the 3rd ones (with the black/chrome corners), and I must say they would be the best. They have the plug holes for city lights (if you want to install them), and the lenses are made from glass so they stay nice & shiny. I'm pretty sure I purchased them from procarparts.com and they were only about $100 shipped.
The corner lamps are nice because they have the chrome reflectors at the back, and they look really good if you get the chrome coated orange bulbes. Then you don't see any color when they are not lit...

If you don't want to put hid in your stock headlights try retrofitting some projectors in your stock housing.

It's made by AC Hydraluic in Europe. A small sticker on the side says "Koni" too . Mine is the DK13HLQ and it suports 2900 lbs. It's range of motion is 3" to 29.2". It has amazing reach because the jack is only 3" tall for the frist 16" to get to those hard to reach areas. Lets just say it's a little tricky to move around the garage though...
Mine came from ASEDeals.com ($495 shipped )...

Can't go wrong with a good jack though. I would recommend painting your existing headlights black (the housing that is). Nothing better than OEM.

Except that you cannot see the black through the fluted OEM lenses, and the reflector looks like **** if you polish the flutes off the inside of the glass... Oh well, just my opinion anyways...
I would follow JDM-EJ1's advice if you have more time than money. Either way, your headlights will look like crap with drop in HID's. You need OEM projector retrofits otherwise it's a big waste of time. The TYC one-pieces headlight/corner-lights are by far the nicest setup that already have projectors in them. Too bad you would have to cut them up to put another cars HID projectors in 'em...

With regular 9003 bulbs it's awesome (I use silverstar bulbs). The cuttoff has the slight ramp on the passengers side to light up road signs, so you know they were designed for a Left hand drive car.
That's one thing that always bothered me about JDM headlights was that the RHD cutoff shape would shine directly into oncomning traffic...
They also have a great looking glow with only the parking lights on when you add the city lights. I used some USDM 97 prelude "city lights" sockets & wired them to my corner running-light for a simple connection. Worked perfectly...

To each their own. I think the fluted look gives the car a very distinctive look because it's rarely utilized by car manufactures today. And the difference in the black OEM is subtle, but noticeable.
