Default Went to the track with my si

Ive never ran at the track before last wednesday but me and some friends decided to go...My first pass ever was a 15.7 at 88mph wheel hopping pretty badly...second pass was also a 15.7 at 88mph with once again more wheel hopping....those are the only two passes i got that night due to the fact that is was grudge match **** and i got eliminated...We went back on sunday and the first pass i redlighted..but didnt take off, my car just rolled forward a little bit and tripped the sensor or whatever, and ran a 16.7 next and final pass i ran a 15.2 at 89mph...btw mods are greddy sp2, greddy 4-2-1 header, vafc (untuned) aem cai, b&m fpr set at 49psi at wot i think and a ctr crank pulley..no ac, ps, or cc..and no back seats or spare...there wasnt any other si's there to compare my times to, so what do yall think? the 15.2 pass had tire spin halfway through first and then wheel hopped for about 15 feet....

i dont think those are bad times. elevation has alot to do with it. all the si's around here run high 15's, low 16's with all the bolt ons. my buddy has a black si, gutted, no power steering, ac, dc 4-1 header, tanabe exhaust, high flow cat, short ram w/k&n, and is at a 15.8. thats good for si's around here, most run 16.1's and 0's. so if your running a low 15, at a high elevation, feel good.

yeah well ive never seen a bolt on ex faster than 15.9...didnt ask anyone to be a dick....oh and i also got a skunk2 intake manifold...but heres my times..

R/T .558
60' 2.316
330 6.387
1/8 9.812
mph 71.46
1000 12.763
1/4 15.278
mph 89.38..that was my best pass so far, i know my reaction time is horrible, and my 60ft is **** because of the wheel spin/wheel hop..goin back sunday hoping for 14s with better launches..btw my suspension setup is skunk2 coilovers (almost all the way down, tuckin an inch in front and about a half in in rear) and my rims/tires are 16x7 slipstreams with 205/45/16 dunlop fm901s..any tips on launching, tire pressure, suspension etc. would be great

easy there, anyway put your tire pressure to about 20-24 psi and take a big **** before to lose extra pounds

yea, get those front tire pressure down to 22psi and practice feathering the clutch. I ran my stock em1 and got a 16.1 with a 60ft of 2.4. I have been practicing my launch now and I should be near mid 15s wit cai. Your car is capable of high 14s just keep practicing your launch and try to stay in vtec.

good luck

It really depends on you 60ft times. I am close to sea level but I still manage 9.5-9.6 in the 1/8th. I am pretty sure that would translate into a mid to high 14 sec pass. My Si is stock with the basic bolt-ons (at least the last time I was at the track) It's all about coming off the line, a shitty launch can be the difference in .3-.5 in the 1/8th and even more at the big boy track.

i def. will..going back on sunday for sure and if my master lets me off early i can go on wednesday too...anyone think raising my car up in the front would help my 60ft? someone said that its too low and the suspension is too stiff right now, causing the wheel hop..

your getting wheel hop because your tire psi is too high. your master? for what, the cotton fields? (j/k, i have a master too.)

a big part of wheel hop can be accounted to shot motor mounts. our 99 si was hopping bad and and then we did the do it yourself inserts on the tranny, rear, and the front stabilizer mounts, no more wheel hop. just something to think about.

1320honda, you are probably right..my mounts are shot...how much did you pay for the inserts, what kind are they and about how hard is it to put em in, never done it before
