Default Went to a smog check station today-CA

today i went to get my vehicle renewed and tested today. Results for Comprehensive Visual Inspection - TAMPERED (Disconnected Vacuum lines/sensors...call me a dumbass), Fuctional Check - FAIL (Ignition Timing), and Emissions Test - FAIL (HC (PPM) *at 15mph* max allowed was 93, i got a 115, *at 25mph* max allowed was 59, i was measured at 61) so that was the test, i am allowed one more try, and im going tommorow... i took care of the vacuum lines and the disconnected sensors, actually i removed the extra map sensor which i should of removed in the first place after i change from a d15b7 to a d16z6 manifold. i guess its just the timing then?, btw im running a d15b7/d16y8 mini me with a vx timing belt and an adj cam sprocket. this is actually my first smog test only check, with the results i got, does anyone have any suggestions to give, advice to give, help to give to a desperate motorist, who needs to pass tommorow??????

If you hook everything up correctly, and your sensors and cat are still good, then don't worry about it. You were probably getting high HC numbers because of the unconnected lines. ECU's don't like unconnected lines.

fill up with 91 right before you go for yur next test and make sure your warm up yur cat--that is usually the reason for high Hc.

Actually, fill up with 89 or even 87 for a complete burn.. higher octane tends not to have a complete burn.. also run to the store and run a bottle or two of iso heet... (like rubbing alcohol without the water.)

Do exactly that!!!!
It works!!!
The ISO HEET will lower your HC(unburned fuel)
It lowers the octane even more so you get a more complete burn

They open the gas cap and test it's ability to seal not to see what fuel your running.

Get a timing light, set the ecu in bypass and adjust your timing to the proper setting.

Retard your timing as low as the lowest limit for a honda. (I believe 14 degrees).

Retarding the timing will lower NOx, Co, Co2 and HC.
You loose Hps though and car will be very slugish.

I'm glad I don't have to "cheat" emissions tests. There's no way my car would pass. Sometimes it's good to be in Nebraska.

so can i still pass with this y8 head? my ignition timing is all the way advanced (distributor), if i put it back normal (center), my car lags on the low end then power picks up quick. i had to advance the timing on the sprocket a little so engine don't die. so in this wack situation, what should i do? i heard timing on this type of mini me is difficult plus since im dealing with a vx timing belt. suggestions? is it possible......helllllllllpppppppppppppppp

Is that how you do your timing? move the distribuitor back and forth? use a timing light!
