Default Weird Swap: 92 VX Motor into 99 EX Coupe

Yea that's right, get over it. I have the motor I have the shell that's what is going in there.

I'm basically trying to find out how to make it work. More specifically the mounts. Wiring/whatnot isn't really a problem.

What I got:
99 EX Tranny mount/bracket.
99 EX Drivers Mount/Bracket. Point of interest, I'm using the eg's bracket that is directly attached to the motor, not the ek's, should I be swapping this out for an ek style? If so, where do I find one? I can't find that **** listed on any honda parts site.
92 VX Rear Mount/Bracket.

Basically I can get only two to fit at a time, rear/passenger or rear/drivers. So I'm pretty damn sure I need to get the 99 EX rear bracket, but before I blow another $50 on a worthless peice of non-returnable honda oem goodness, i'd like to get everyone else's thoughts.

there is nothing wrong with the VX engine, it's just not a mega power producing engine. But for fuel mileage you can't beat it.

are you sure that the state emissions will let you put a pre 95 engine in a 99??

Florida has no emissions.

To my understanding both motors have exactly the same mounts.

you probably need all EK mounts since it's a different chassis. Also you'll need an OBDII to OBDI adapter harness to run the VX ECU.

I hope not. That's another $100.
I have one.

ok you need the mounts for the engine man, sorry.

Some may carry over and be he same, but the chassis are all the same, but some of the engine and tranny mounts are a little different, but they mount to all cars the same on their specific engines.

You prob need a tranny mount from the VX by what I understand from what you're saying.

And don't go to honda, 7million people on this board have swapped out VX motors and kept the mounts or entire engines. Just look at FS threads or search VX and see someone that has like 1992 VX B16 blah blah, and ask that ****** for his mounts on teh free, or for shipping.

I know that when you're swapping in a B-series into an EG you need DC mounts, but when you're swapping one into an EK you need 99-00 Si mounts. So....it sucks since you're strapped for cash, but you're going to have to buy something. Good luck.

That thing is going to me so freaking slow.

believe me, i know, it was quite possibly the slowest production car ever in the eg @ 2100lbs. In the ek @ 2550 I'd be surprised to get up to highway speeds.

B into an EK only needs the rear mount from an Si, the rest can be used from the B motor.

the VX isn't that slow, the CX is slower.
I could got up to 120mph in 4th with a large system and spinning a second alternator.

VX - hp-92@5500 - tq-97@4500
CX - hp-70@4500 - tq-83@3000
same tranny, same chassis weight.

Don't know how you did that, WOT mine barely did 85mph. It would hit 90-95mph if I started on a down hill.

EDIT: Anyways, back to the topic at hand, anyone know?

I towed an 8ft uhaul full of my stuff from Philly to Chicago... it'll handle the heavier car... its only a few hundred pounds of car.

Well I ordered both the rear bracket for the ek and the driver's side engine bracket. I guess we'll see.

Its the tranny bro, the VX tranny goes and goes and doesnt run out, you run outa power.

I can hit 70 in 2nd, 110 in third, thats as far as Ive gone, never WOT redlined in 4th.

But the VX trannie never ends, I swear.

Strong motor, I run mine to redline a good deal, WOT all the time (you gotta). 180K on it, never a rebuild. Hardly done anywork, but oil changes new Radiator, and belts and waterpump.

Befor I buy a new motor, ima Throw some NOS on it for ***** and giggles.

But its **** slow.
