weird problem
this started thursday morning.. at roughly 6:50am when I approached the first main street I turned on my blinker, engaged the clutch and started to brake. Next thing I know (before getting to a stop), my headlights/interior lights are dimming and my batter light is on. When I got to a stop I noticed the engine had died. I restarted it with no problems and continued to work (battery light was back off). After work I drove for a total of ~1 1/2hr in day and night with no problems. I had to alternator and battery checked at autozone and no problems. The next day at the same place the same exact thing happened. Over the weekend I didnt drive till the afternoon and had no problem. Come Monday the same thing happened at an earlier bend in the road where I brake and engage the clutch but it didnt completely die and then when I reached the stop at the main street (same as before) it did it and died. This happen tuesday and wednesday and today.
So far it only does it in the morning and in the 1/4 mile drive (1 bend, 1 half stop, 1 full stop) to the main street. Ideas????
So far a mechanic inspected the wiring with no faults found. I was instructed to try changing out the batter cables (neg and pos) as well as the battery fuse. I am waiting on the positive cable but the fuse and neg have been changed.
Also, today on my way to work I tried to watch the tach to see when the engine dies and I think the engine starts dying at the same time as the lights start dimming (not sure since its such a low idle and happens in 1-2seconds).
If it matters, it is a 2000 civic ex coupe
EDIT: So I have concluded that my idle is dropping too low (below 400rpm) and causing my alternator not to charge and ultimately (sometimes) killing the engine. Anyone have ideas?? It still only happens in the morning and within the first few minutes of driving. I also have now replaced both oxygen sensors as well.
