Default Weird noise coming from front suspension/steering?

Ok so last week while driving I would hear this weird noise while coming to a stop. It was just a single click just before the car came to a complete stop. After hearing this I thought to myself "Maybe I should head home" lol

On the way home it got much worse. When braking for a light, I would hear a creaking [sp?] noise coming from somewhere in the front of the car. Could be suspension or steering. Its a deep creaking noise and for some reason it only happens while moving forward, never in reverse. It sounds as if something is loose or broken and its stretching/moving. Could this be an axle problem or something in the rack?

I need to figure this out asap.

I would like to add that there is and always has been a slight amount of play in my steering wheel which doesnt have power steering... anymore. It's a DX, i'm not sure if it ever had PS but since i bought the car with a b-series swap... the PS was removed.

Edit: Heres a pic of what I found upon further inspection.

my dads friend [mech] said i need a whole new steering rack because something inside broke or some ****. Anyone got anything to add?

What suspension setup do you have?

When I installed a camber kit it creaked for a while then went away. Creaking leads me to believe that it could be a ball joint or bushing but I'm sure there are a myriad of other things it could be too.

i dont say this often, but your fucked.
looks like somethin in the steering rack went, and ya may have to replace that ****.

Yes, lowering a car is bad on it. i mean look at the basic geometry. you are putting more stress than normal on the CV joints at all times. the steering rod is constantly not level, and goin over speed bumps only pushes it at a harder angle. so lowering a car does do this sorta ****. i reccomend replacing and getting aftermarker tie rod ends, perhaps something to compensate for the lowering so its smooth as normal.

I'm sure its more than just this boot being ripped. When I turn the wheel all the way in any direction it makes a horrible noise. Should be getting it replaced this weeked.

Im having the same noise. I have been told the rack and pinion is bad and i know the left ball joint is bad. I had originally thought a bad strut so i went out and bought aftermarket ones and put them on. The noise didnt stop. I got aggrivated with it and purchased another rack and pinion and a whole new steering bushing and ball joint set. Comes with ball joints, outer and inner tie rods, sway bar link and upper control arms (already have aftermarket). Im putting all of this on next weekend hopefully. Im going to replace parts until the noise stops. Im pretty sure the rack and pinion, ball joints and tie rods will fix the problem. If not im replacing the axle. If ur still working the problem on ur car ill let u know what happens after i get done with mine. Ill b done next weekend for sure.
