weird noise coming from D15b2
as im new to thew site i thought i better introduce myself, im an english 17 year old and have been driving 3 months and workin my *** of to improve my honda. I own a EG hatch 95 with a stock d15b2 motor with a few bolt on goodies, not much but the insurance we have to pay over he is to put it quite frankly a joke!
heres a few pics of my ride...
heres the spec too..

My knowlodge is very limited as iv only been reading about hondas for the last two months. So i hope to learn some information here on honda tech and hope some of your knowledge rubs off on me
Since i had a little accident, understeered into a Kurb i have had a grinding noise coming from what sounds like somewhere down the bottom. its a spining grinding noise thats quite hard to explain, i only happens when i have my foot half on the throttle. im not sure if something serious is on its may out as the engine has covered 120,00 miles and smokes qiuet bad in the higher RPM range.
Ive replaced both driveshafts, but they were both from used cars at the scrap yard so they could be worn but im not intirely sure.

Re: (SirRevvs)
The noise is definately something spinning and grinding, its definatly something rotating that must be not running true or worn. its coming from the gearbox area i believe but cant be certain as you can only hear it when moving.
sometime when pulling off it seems like the throttle stiicks for aminute and acceleration is halted, like flatspots...but i have no idea if this problem is linked in anyway.
i wish i knew more about my hondas when i bought this car no service history and a high mileage!

well if its coming from your motor area and only when the car is moving it could be a bad throwout bearing. Its kinda like a clak clak noise that gets louder as the car speeds up. I had the same problem on my d15 in my hatch but it was only coming out of first gear so i never fixed it since i swapped out the motor/tranny.
If its more like a grinding noise it could also be a wheel bearing gone bad since you did run up a curb. It sounds more like a metal on metal grind. You really have to get under the hood and find out exactly where the noise is coming from to be sure though.
Does the noise you hear get worse when turning left or right? If it does it could be the junkyard axles you bought.

Re: weird noise coming from D15b2 (kayne)
With the wheels turned the noise doesnt change, i had a problem with the axles creaking and have had new ones this sounds different tho. im going to get under the car as i can hear something rattling when revving it even out of gear, the noise has got worse and more consistant.
