Weird front end noise on 1998 honda civic ex - bearing?
I know that the suspension is **** - struts and shocks make creaking noise and noise when you go over speed bumps, so ordered some monroes today. Recently, when going slow, noise is more noticeable though it may be happening at higher speeds... the noise sounds like a slight creaking noise, that oscillates as the tire turns - not sure if it is the rear or the front tire.
I did recently (about 3-4 months ago) replace the pads and shoes, not sure if that is causing it, brake dust...
However, the big thing that happened recently as well, shortly after this wheel noise, is if I back up in the mornings, or evenings (car been sitting for a while), out of the driveway come to a stop and turn the tires to the right to go down the street it makes a drag type noise and this morning was a slight vibration from underneath tire area. It does not do this when turning left, car has been cold, only right, which is the same side I am hearing this noise. Once you get going, the vehicle does not make the noise anymore when turning right.
Half shafts are less than a year old on both sides, but does not sound like the typical half shaft failure. Is it possible that the bearing is going? I know when bearings have gone south in my trucks it is very noticeable and you hear a high pitched squealing... this is not the same.
I am at a loss. This weekend when I am putting the rear shocks and coils on - will start with the rear first before figuring out if the front needs to come out further for bearings... - I will spin the tires and see. Car has 100K on it.
Anyways, suggestions, or thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

I know you posted this awhile ago, but were you ever able to get it resolved? I have a 95 del sol and it's been doing the exact same thing, the grinding/dragging sound gradually getting worse and worse. I really should take it in to a shop, but I don't want to put much more money into it since it's so old and I've already paid a lot for upkeep. Thanks!

Sell the car. Get a loan. But new car with low mileage. Then you have less, old, worn out parts from an 20+yes old vehicle.
If that option is too "much". Buy a scooter.

You like it enough to use as your screenname, but not enough to buy a set of brakes for it or any other maintenance..
Yeah, no...
As Tony and Civic said, Sell it. To me.. $500 cash, now!
Then get a $2-400 car payment with free maintenance..
