weird eg voltage problem?
i have a stock 95 coupe with the exception of a SAFC II (i had it in my old car so i just put it in since i had it). i have only had the car for a few weeks and 3 times in the past week something kinda weird is happening. 3 times i have noticed that the voltage has dropped while driving from the normal 14.4v to around the 12.4-13.0v range. my first instinct was the alternator was going bad. but if i shut the car off and start it immediately again it runs at 14.4v. it just has occured just driving around town and just kinda all the sudden drops voltage. if i rev the car really hard it will jump up about a half volt. i checked the belt to the alternator and it is good and like i said when i restart the car it runs at the correct voltage at idle and at speed. any ideas? im stumped

the electronic load detector makes it do that. mine does it, it agravates the **** out of me. if you chip you ecu you can turn it off.

Re: weird eg voltage problem? (JSPECSIR)
what is the purpose of the electronic load detector and why would it make the vehicle run at a lower voltage? so basically is this anything i should worry about?

i dont know why it does it, but if you leave you blower fan on 2 or higher it will stay up at 14v. that way it detects a load and keeps the voltage up.
