weight theoretical question
i'm am close to buying a 2000 civic si with a type r motor in it. i have been searching online and can't find a solid answer in the si curb weight. every site is different. does anyone here have the real curb weight?
i am thinking that a si and a type r weigh pretty close to the same, so theoretically a 2000 civic with a type r motor should run the same 1/4 mile time as a integra type r right?
i'm debating on buying this car because if it's only as quick as a type r i might want something different. i was also looking into a crx with a b16, my guess is the crx would be better 1/4 mile and autx car since it's lighter.
if anyone has any inputs please help me out, i'm stuck between 2 cars. thanks in advance.

Re: weight theoretical question (93egSLEEPER)
uh. faster?
1. integra type r basically has a B16 transmission.
2. integra type r puts out a peak of ~134lbs torque.. B16 has what.. 117lbs of torque?
3. weight difference between the two is what.. 300 pounds? not sure. look up the specs.. it isn't super drasticl/
These two factors alone make up for the weight difference.. at least in the quarter mile.
I'm certain that a b16 powered CRX would destroy both of these cars.
*imagines the ***-whoopings that a B18C5 CRX would hand out*

i believe the si and ITR are relative in weight. if you're in the air between two cars for their respective quarter mile times, you're bored or stupid. Buy the car you'll like.

why would you buy a tuna can over an si anyways??? type r motor is the best FWD NA motor honda has to offer... id say jump on that.
did some research...
type r:
Curb Weight : 2639 lbs
Overall length : 173.0 in.
96-00 civic
Wheelbase, in. 103.2
Overall Length, in. 175.1
Overall Width, in. 67.1
Overall Height, in. 54.1
Curb Weight, lbs. 2262

a civic Si is much heavier than 2262, try about 2622 (or more). My civic ex (2000) with a b swap grossed 2650 with a half tank of gas, amp, sub, and full interior.

I'm surprised nobody bit your dick off about the K being the best FWD NA motor has to offer, but in terms of bang for buck, I agree 100%.
