Weight Saving on a DelSol
Everyone know that the DelSol is one heavy car consider of its size!! I am planning to put my DelSol on diet later this year, so can anyone give me some ideas on what I can do to it to make it lighter, but without giving up the comfort of it?? What in my mind now is CF hood, lighter wheel, lighter brake caplier, and take out the A/C!! What else I can do to it without making it look like a thieft recovery car??

remove ac, remove cruise control, remove sound deadening material ( a bitch to do) remove heat shields, CF hood, Lighter wheels.
that's about it after that you will have to start removing interior components, like seats, carpet, stereo ect...

How much is the sound deadening material weight? I am not sure if it worth it to take that out if it is bitch to do!! Also, what heat shields are you talking about?? I already took out the cruise control function on my steerling wheel, is there other thing I can take out for the cruise control??

How about a light weight battary. A couple racig seats. Replace your heavy steering wheel & airbag with a nice momo or something. Remove your passanger side airbage(if your sol has one). If you want to get more serious, drop your gas tank and put a 5 gallon fuel cell in the trunk.
In a car that removing the interiour isnt an option, I would put alot of emphasis on rotational mass(wheels, tires, flywheel, etc.)

what about the roof mechanism. just make it into a manually removeable hard top, if it has the auto top. and just bolt the trunklid on normally. I have no idea how hard this would be but it's an idea. HTH

Light wt. battary is a good idea, since it is almost time for me to replace the old battary!! I already have the Recaro, but not the racing type seat, so it still heavy!! I don't want the real racing seat, since i still drive the car for long trip!!
I am using JDM non SRS steerling wheel now, so no airbag in both side already!! Is it hard to take out the passenger air bag and can I reinstall it after?
The DelSol here is not automatic roof to start with, so nothing i can do about that!!

jinxproof99 - Is it the steel beams behind the bumper? How would I remove them, is there a bolt? or what...

remove anything you dont need and will not interfere with the cars ability to run (e.g. everything!!! lol) strip the trunk for beginners...

There is a company out there, but I forgot the name, that makes a transparent roof for the Del Sol. Apparently it also weighs in at 10 or 12 pouds less than stock. If anyone knows the name of the compny I'm talking about, please post it.
