Weight Reduction Questions
I have an Ek with a ex engine, so its all about power to weight in my car. I have 2 JL10w6's in a custom box in back, as well as the spare tire and a rack of tools (a full kit). If I took these items out would it cut back my time any? The subs with box weigh in around 80+lbs.
Thanks
Dan

Re: Weight Reduction Questions (turbotime)
Any weight reduction will help, but if you're anything close to stock, it probably won't be worth the effort.

i think the figures are around 1/10th of a second in the 1/4 per 100 lbs loss of weight on the vehicle. it would be different if you lost the weight at say the wheel (light-weight wheels). There would be more of a gain i believe. hope this helps

Re: Weight Reduction Questions (EleanoR)
I'd almost say 2/10ths for every 100 personally. I was able to run 15.2 in a 95' DX hatch with d16z6 and had removed about 200 #'s at the most of items. Car weighed 2150 with my 180 IB butt in it.

Re: Weight Reduction Questions (DX Hybridizer)
It depends on your power output and current weight as to what the gain per pound lost would be. if you weigh 4000 lbs, then losing 100 lbs won't do as much as a 1000 lbs car losing 100 lbs.

Re: Weight Reduction Questions (jolt-tsp)
the **** in back really hurts your launching ability. you will burn your tires more and get much worse times that way. take it out.
