Yeah, you pretty much wait for it to go bad. The ECU will let you know when it's not getting the necessary voltages.

Although, you can test them with a Digital Multimeter after it warms up with engine running while measuring the output voltage. If you have a bar graph DMM it's really helpful.

But, it doesn't matter. If the engine isn't throwing a code, it doesn't really need to be replaced, unless you're **** about gas mileage.

wait for it to come on, and stay on. try a different ecu if you have someone with the same set-up nearby

The only way you can really tell if its bad is with a air fuel gauge or a good voltmeter. When the voltages/readings are slow to change or not moving much then the o2 sensor is going bad. I noticed that my air fuel gauge values were slow moving and about a week later the o2 light came on. New o2 sensor, quick changes again and no code. Be carefull though, no changes may mean its in open loop (engine not hot, computer is in backup mode (many possible reasons.)) Usually if it doesn't go out of open loop you will have other engine codes.

digital volmeter to signal wire. On warm engine floor it should hit at least .9 (rich) then when revs are coming down should hit .1 (lean) you cant check if it'snreading slow though without a lab scope
