Way to remove outer tie rod end WITHOUT ripping boot.
So I'm doing my inners soon, already got the parts, but my outers are perfect. No need to replace those. I don't want to get that pickle fork because it deforms the boot/rips it most of the time. And also I don't want to hit the threads from the bottom because I've already fucked up some threads in my old car.
Any other tool or tips?

Just bang the hell out of the metal that is on the knuckle that the threaded part goes through, it has worked every time for me.

You dont have to beat on the stud to make it pop out of the knuckle.
Just take a soft faced rubber mallet and knock it from the bottom of the stud on the tie rod a couple times, and it should pop out.

Cool guys, thanks. I stripped my old hatch's threads by banging it from the bottom with a big *** hammer. I'll try the mallet this time + banging it, which I did before too

you can use the "C" type removers if you look the bottom of the joint it has an indentation made just for this tool to fit there. It is like a screw and will pop them out easily and without screwing up the threads or the boot

You dont have to hit it on the stud, if you take a hammer and hit it really good on the knuckle where the bolt passes through, that will usually pop it out. Ive never had any problems on ball joints or tie rods when i just hit it really hard at about a 45 degree angle.
