Default water sucked into intake(searched got a quick question still)

was driving in town... didnt see this puddle.... when i drove through it(was driving like 15mph) my car died..... started my car back up.... it bogged down and then it was fine... then it bogged down one more time... it drove home fine(didnt feel like any loss of power or any thing) but not there is a tick or a knock when its cold.
It doesnt tick/knock after it was warmed up except when you rev it.

QUESTION: What is the tick/knock?

Ive changed the oil today.

Thanks for any and all the help.... I appreciate it

there might still be some water in there. Just go and get some water out stuff at your local aut store. And it might take the tick out. But after a few oil changes it should be fine.

the tick was there before. it's in your head. If your car is still running you're fine. Do a compression test if you're really worried. I locked my **** up tight as can be before. Pulled the plugs, shot the water out, replaced plugs, changed oil, good as new.

the tick wasnt as loud before if it was there....ill try some water out and see if it stops.... but it doesnt seem like it has lost any power at all....

The tick could of been there before....but its gotten louder... Appreciate all the help.

that water out, or whatever stuff isn't going to help. I'm guessing you're talking about the stuff you dump in your gas tank. Unless you sucked gas into your gas tank it's not gonna do a damn thing for you.

water in the pan i drained the oil into? if thats what your asking, maybe a little...

didnt figure the "water out" stuff would work... but it was cheap so i tried it,.... it didnt work.. tick is still there.....

the tick/knock is kinda loud... not real loud tho(not at as loud as my input shaft bearing was )
When the car is warmed up the tick/knock isnt there at idle but i can slightly hear it when i rev it.

It kind of sounds like valves to be, but im not expert... thats why i came here ...

well you wouldnt really be able to tell if you had water in your oil because water is heavier then oil, so it will sit at the bottom of the pan.
Also, a compression test would be pointless really because if he had water in the piston, it would read a higher compression then normal. i personally would take out the number 4 cylininder spark plug. (at TDC) and stick in a Q-tip, or something liek that that you can tell if its wet ot soaked.

BUT i dont think the ticking is bottom end related, seems to me that is you did suck in some water and you didnt hydrolock it, that you would throw off your valve lash due to the exhaust valve trying to open on the exhaust stroke to force out the air/water and as you know water doesnt compress. So im thinking that could do it.
I would do a valve lash check/adjustment and see whats up from there.
hope it helps

and that would cause the tick/knock that goes away at idle when engine is warmed up? would my car still run with out a loss of power?.. and will a compression check tell me if this is the problem? id think it would... hopefully ill het time to check my compression tomarrow

kind hoping iss was ludeHatchH22a says...

If it's a tick / knock that goes away when the engine is warm, it's almost certainly a valve lash problem. It may be worse now from the water, or maybe your'e more consious of it now, but just adjust your valve clearance and you'll be fine.

I appreciate everyone thoughts and suggestions... I think im going to get my valves adjusted and see if that gets rid of the sound. I still havent had time to check the compression(damn research paper rough draft due tomarrow) Hopefully i can get that done tomarrow. Again i appreciate everyone, especially for not calling me stupid or saying "see you should of had a bypass valve" like other boards would/do.

Ill post the outcome of the valve adjustment when i get that done
