Default Water pump problems?

OK, so I've bought 2 water pumps for my 99 civic SI so far, one from murrays and one for carquest and they are BOTH IDENTICLE and I was looking on the computer as the guy put the info into the computer in both cases and they both put in the right car (99 civic si, 1.6L DOHC) BUT the bolt patterns on BOTH of these pumps is WRONG. The lowest 2 holes are about a 1/2" apart on both of these pumps and the holes on the pump in my car is around a 1 1/2" apart, also the notch that comes out a bit for a longer bolt (on the left hand side of the pump) on the pump in my car is at the upper lefthand part of the pump and the notch on the new pumps are in the dead middle of the left side, so they are both clearly incorrect.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this with a 99-00 SI when trying to buy a water pump? Are these companies just making the wrong pump for this car? I really don't want to dish out all the cash for a honda water pump (seriously over 4 times the price of a auto parts store pump).. Am I going to have to just buy the honda pump or is there another company that makes the correct water pump for a 99 SI?

try one from like autozone...

Doubt may other people have had this problem...

You sure it's an Si, sure it's DOHC B16a2, and sure the water pump is for that car, it's right...

Have them look up the part # for the DOHC Del Sol.

Same thing?

had the same problem once with some calipers..part number was matched to the wrong part.

have someone who works and is truly willing to help you..search for it.

as the above poster said..try the del sol..might hit the jackpot.

very true, i just looked on advance auto parts and they want $82 for the water pump. i looked on that website i gave above and its $60 for a genuine OEM waterpump(its from Majestic Honda). they charge $5 handling fee and shipping so if u go to honda u will probably break even with the advance autoparts waterpump...and its guaranteed to fit if u get it from honda

ehh.. well, at the dealership here it's $170 plus tax for a water pump and the auto part places have them for ~$40-65 plus tax, so there's a pretty big difference there.. If I knew I was going to be running into this problem (twice) I probably would've ordered it offline for the ~$90 plus shipping (not sure where your seeing $60 at but it's showing $89 from majestic honda for a SI.) but now the timing belt and all is off and I can't just wait a week for it too come from some place like rhode island... I ordered a pump from napa, hopefully that one will be the right one.

Odd . . . every dealership I've been to sells it for $120-ish. Have you tried a different dealer?

'96-97 del Sol VTEC. You could also try an Acura dealer, since the '94-01 Integra GSR used the same pump (19200-P72-013).

The B16A2 from the '96-97 Sol and the '99-00 Si used a Yamada water pump with a P72 part number. The B16A3 from the '94-95 Sol used a Keihin water pump with a P30 part number (which is incidentally over $15 cheaper).
