Default Water outlet cover

I recently stripped my bleeder bolt and have ordered a new water outlet cover for my 1st gen b16. I ordered 19315-P30-J01 from the b16a3 off a 95 Sol vtec.

I just need a little walk through to change it out, anything helps. I'm assuming i have to drain my radiator and apply liquid gasket between the head and new cover but is there anything I'm missing?

just changed mine a month ago bc i did the same thing..take the old one off..the new one doesnt come with a bleeder bolt, well mine didnt at least. simply take the hoses off the old one, use the high temp gasket maker from advance or autozone apply silicon gasket maker around the flat surface of the water housing and press it on bolt it back and put the hose on..I let my silicon cure for 24 hours..thats pretty much the whole process.

Sounds great except I have a never used gasket sealer (silicone) on the thermostat. They use a rubber o-ring on them. You shouldn't have to put anything on it except a new o-ring.
If you do put sealer on it, you will just make for extra work if you have to do it again later. You will have to clean all this crap off....

(Please don't come in here and flame me on this...I have done many, many of these and have never used any sealer)

He's not doing it to the thermostat. I know on my b16 the thermostat is in the back left corner of the engine and the"water neck" or "water housing" is on the head below the distributor. Since he said water outlet cover im assuming its just that water housing which they dont make an actual gasket so you have to use silicon.

No you dont neeed thread locker or gel just make sure u get an even spread with the silicon around the whole surface of the water housing.

well i got the part today but it doesn't have the nipple that has a hose going to my FITV or a hole for the bleeder screw. When i was looking at the picture online it has the nipple but its not on the part. What are my options now? IF i have to order a new part what would be the RIGHT one for my first gen b16....?

Its a dealer part dont order online go to the nearest honda dealer and spend the extra money it was like $25 dollars or so for mine. They don't make them with the bleeder bolt anymore. It should just had the big water neck that the top radiator hose connects to and the little pipe on the back where the hose connects to.

Well took a trip a dealership and he showed the the parts diagram that i had ordered it from and told me he'd have to order it and there's no guarantee it'd be the same thing without the pipe. So i suppose I'm **** out of luck.

I ordered it from majestic honda.
Part number 6

What i need is on the right, what i got is on the left...

You ordered the same exact part number and everything? Well this sure has me in a predicament, I don't wanna waste 30 bucks buying the same thing I just got from a dealer so I guess I'm looking in the marketplace of HT now. Thanks for your help though, hopefully anyone who stumbles on this thread can get some good info out of it.

maybe you could drill and tap the hole that has the nipple in it, and get a barb fitting form the hardware store?

I went to the honda dealership and ordered that EXACT part and mine came with the nipple and everything. In the diagram it shows a nipple so if the part didnt come with a nipple i would tell them something. I ordered mine from 00 honda civic si..and it worked perfectly.

I went to the dealership and ordered a water outlet cover for a 00 civic si part #19315-P2T-J00 It was a perfect fit. Added a little hondabond on the mating surfaces and waiting over night for it to completely cure then going to refill my cooling system and bleed it. Thanks for all the help i got, i appreciate it.

Original JDM b16 on the left, 00 civic si b16a2 in the middle and 95 del sol vtec b16a3 on the right. Hopes his thread helps anyone else with this problem.

sorry for the 6 month thread resurrection but does the '00 civic part have to be threaded for the bleeder bolt or is the bleeder bolt no longer applicable on this part.

Random bump on an old thread. Thank you for posting this. A quick search brought me to this thread and answered my question I had about which water neck I needed for my B16a.

I will miss the forums when they are no longer supported and all of the info compiled over the years is gone as people use Facebook as the only resource for stuff like this. Such a waste. SMH.
