its a really common problem with 96-00 hatches, the water comes in from behind your taillights. You might want to change the little foam rubber seal behind your tails

Yup leaks in my 99 hatch too. It's on the driver side tail light for me. I'm wondering does honda sell replacement rubber thingys behind the tail lights?

First, what you need to do is pull off your tail lights, and clean them off.

then, clean the foam gasket that is placed between car and lights.

next, apply 1/4 inch bead of hondabond around the opening where your lights set against.

Then let hondabond dry completely!!!!!!!!!!YOU MUST LET HONDABOND DRY COMPLETELY OR YOUR LIGHTS WILL BE STUCK TO YOUR CAR!!!

Before reinstalling lights apply foam gasket to back of light and reassemble.

Not only will you still be using all honda parts, but the bead of hondabond will act as shield an redirect water away from the opening!

**** luck!!!

Are you saying it's leaking from around the firewall/footwell area?

If so, I know exactly what your talking about. On my 92 hatch I noticed my passenger side floormat was damp one day but didn't think to much about it until I went to get gas one day and the pump didn't stop and shot gas all over the fuel door area so they gave me a free car wash. SO as I was getting the car washed I noticed a couple drips come from under the clove box and land on the floormat. Does this sound similar to your problem?

I just fixed the problem last weekend and washed the car yesterday and no more leaks. I did take pictures on the procedure but haven't had time to download them from the camera and do the write-up yet. I'll get to that write-up done asap if anyones interested. I should have it posted sometime next week, the weekend might be to busy.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Heck yes, more new people who actually help. And I couldn't help it, but that made me laugh.

if it's in the front then check the seal between the front cowl and the windshield.

windsheild replaced? common water leaks are from improperly sealed windsheilds!

the whole driver side of my hatch is soaked with water. it only goes about half and inch up the carpet but it starts to smell funky after a while and the ladies dont like that. i have no freakin idea where it comes from but its really annoying and its obviously not drying because, well its never completely dry in there!!!

where is it coming from?!?!

Use silicon sealant on the tail lights.
