Default water in head????

So i ordered my motor about a month ago and its been sitting while i collect parts well i decided to pull the valve cover off to got it a new paint job since im painting my engine bay before install.... once i removed the valve cover i noticed on the cam plates this slimey brown substance...i think the motor may have gotten water in it somehow ill post a picture later....any ideas what i should do first...?????

once i noticed this im pretty pissed off....

geez no idea, except for blowing compressed air on it to get it off and put it under a heatlamp for a while?

well my father is a mechanic has been for thirthy years but not on hondas ....he says that it is probably a head gasket...but what bothers me is if it is and it has been ran with water in the motor that could lead to a cracked block or head(either would suck)....ill post pics in the morn just figured maybe someone who deals with hondas more might have a better idea ya know....

Lets not jump to conclussions right off the bat, lets see some pictures first.

A lot of times companies will use a power washer to spray down the engines, so it could just be water sitting in there from that. Pretty normal, depends though on who you bought the engine from. I know when ever I get engines from hmotors they always have water substance in the spark plug holes.
