Watch washers for fuel line on pump end!
For those who are going through or will go through the trouble of replacing the fuel pump in a Del Slow (its actually really easy). If you havent heard already, watch your washers when you disconnect the fuel line (17mm). There is a specific way they go on. I just replaced my fuel pump (93 del sol S). It was all good until i tried starting it and noticed a leak at that specific location. It was coming out at the bottom. To be clear, I searched for tips beforehand and read many threads saying watch the washers. The top one stayed on so i know that was right. I searched for articles pertaining to this. Found nothing. So i thought id make one myself.
If you look closely at the washers on the edge you'll see kinda two color metals. One darker than the other. I looked at the top washer (still on bolt, never came off) and noticed the darker color on the bottom. Put the darker side facing up for the bottom and tighten bolt. (darker side should touch fuel line end). Primed the car numerous times.... no leak.
So there you are stumped peoples. Thanks for reading
